Arranged in two groups: I. Vocal scores (13). II. Promptbooks (6 in 8 vols.). All items are in English. The vocal scores were published by M. Witmark (New York, c1903, pl. no. 5266). The promptbooks are typescript. Several carry cast members' names in preliminaries. One is marked "condensed version"; another bears Carle's signature and the parallel title "The Texas rangers."

Richard Carle, playwright, composer, lyricist, producer, director and actor on stage and in film, was born in Somerville, Massachusetts and died in Hollywood, California. His early career, 1900-1920s, was on Broadway in musical comedy as author, producer, director, lyricist and performer. He often acted in his own plays.
